I don't live in "pumpkin country" anymore.  It's difficult to grow pumpkins in the desert and the ones that survive are often, well, not particularly beautiful.

I found this little guy on a recent trip back to my childhood home.  Look at that stem!  You'll only find something like that in the field.  It would NEVER survive the shipping process. 

I just love it.
