The Jagged Edge

Keen Halloween was a short-lived Halloween convention in the Phoenix, AZ area.  It was the brainchild and passion project of Daniel "Steamcrow" Davis.

Keen Halloween is where many were introduced to MArrow Thatch, the mascot of Steamcrow, and the jagged edge aesthetic of Daniel's carving.

Look at those JoLs!  It's just fantastic the way they are cut to look jagged and irregular.

Marrow Thatch himself is masterfully done.  The smaller JoLs are beautiful in their jaggedness, but Marrow Thatch is a whole new level of detail,  The cracks are of varying depth and size.  They look, to me, organic and awesome.

The newest Marrow Thatch keeps much of this aesthetic, though overall seems to be going for a more whimsical, friendly look.
