Glitter Stripper

It seems like just about ALL the decorations at the dollar stores come covered in glitter these days.  Halloween and Christmas décor Included.

That stuff is just stuck on with the cheapest PVA glue around though.  PVA glue, being water based, is water-soluble!  That means if you take a nice big glitter covered bell and soak it in water for a day or two...

What comes out is a bell that can be made pristine again with a little scrubbing.

If you are looking for a rusty bell, a little vinegar/salt solution will get you there quick!

This works for pretty much anything, so long as the basic material can be soaked in water without damage.  Wood should be OK, particle board, not so much.

I have a theory that more delicate materials may be stripped of glitter by brushing of as much as possible first, then repeatedly spraying the surface with warm water.  Covering it with a damp cloth should help too. The goal is to weaken the glue enough so it comes away easily.
